Monthly Meeting.

The above meeting was held last night. Present. —Messrs Pirani (chairman), Bennett, Carson, Dixon, Guthrie, Fraser, Purnell and Smith.

Appointments. —Manganoho, G. Olsen ; Glen Oroua, W. G. Gibbs; St. Johns, Miss Blennerhassett; Stoney Creek, Miss Gibbie ; Ohingaiti, Mrs M. K. Stansell, assistant.

Leave of absence was granted to Miss McNeal, Miss Black, Miss Blair, O. E. Dorset, H. L. Spratt, H. Goldsbury, J. R. Rockell, and E. Robson.

Mrs Howie applied for a transfer, and was informed that the Board had no power to make transfers, but she was at liberty to apply for advertised vacancies. The Board decided to erect part of the proposed additions to the Queen’s Park School, provided the Government paj r the difference between brick and wood. A return was furnished, showing that for the six months ending 26th July, was spent on technical classes. It was decided to apply to the Government to know upon what terms they would be prepared to pass teachers’ salaries through the post office. An application from Bulls to form a High School there was referred to the Chief Inspector to report upon. A report from the Chief Inspector showed that there were 73 teachers without certificates. It was resolved to advise them to obtain same as soon as possible. The total number of teachers under Board is 385. Accounts amounting to 16s lod were passed for payment. Rongotea is to have new single desks supplied to one room ; Foxton 20 new single desks to be sent.

Application is to be made to the Government for a school teacher’s residence at Glen Oroua. On the motion of Mr Carson, seconded by the Chairman, a vote of sympathy was moved and ordered to be recorded on the minutes to Mr Fraser upon the death of his mother.

The Board sat as a Board of college governors for girls college and "dealt with routine matters, passing accounts for payment to the amount of 12s qd.
