FOOTPATH OBSTRUCTION.
Threatened Proceedings.
At last night’s Borough Council meeting, a letter was read from Mr Eawerence E- Reade, solictor, on behalf of Mr Thomas Seed, threatening an action against the Council to recover the sum of damages sustained on the evening of the 16th instby fa lling across certain drain pipes which were laying across the foothpath. The night was dark and there was no light to indicate that the pipes were there. The letter further stated that unless the above amount was paid or satisfactory arrangements made within fourteen days proceedings would be instituted.
On the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Cr Baker, the Clerk was instructed to write Mr Reade and inform him that this Council does not recognise his claim for damages on behalf of Mr Seed as it did not have any drain pipes in Union Street on the night complained of.
