Tour of the All Blacks.
Sydney, July 11
There was an official welcome of the New Zealand footballers today. They were accorded a hearty reception. The Town Hall was crowded.
Mr Wade. Attorney-General, presiding, extended on behalf of Government a hearty welcome to the visitors.
Mr Wylie, manager of the team, in reply gave the assurance that not one of the team would join the professional tour to Britain. This statement evoked great enthusiasm.
Sydney, July 12
The following is the local team to meet the All Blacks to-morow : Full-back, Dix; three-quarters, Messenger, Smith, Russell, Waddell ; halves, Manbible and Wood ; forwards, Rosewell, Griffin, Barnett, McCue, Burge, Row, Hughes, Murnin.
The arrival of the team yesterday marked the anniversary of the departure of the first New South Wales team to New Zealand twenty-fiveyears ago. The Herald, in a leaderette devoted to the All Blacks, says interest in a healthy sport will receive strong stimulus and encouragement by the visit of the New Zealand footballers and the local feeling, amounting almost to enthusiasm, which it has excited.
