Hokitika, This Day
Patrick Hayes, a young married man, employed as a bushman at Malfroy’s mill was killed to-day by being struck by the limb of a falling tree. Wellington, July 10.
At the Police Court to-day, John Henry Whitton pleaded guilty to a charge of the theft of a fish service from C. E. Mills and Co. The accused, who was head of the retail department in Mills and Co., was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. A second case of theft from a warehouse was also heard. Henry Norman Cossar pleaded guilty to theft of a lady’s costume from Sargood, Son and Ewen, and was committed for sentence.
