The Manawatu Herald. SATURDAY, JULY 6, 1907. POULTRY INDUSTRY.
At a meeting of tlie Chamber of Commerce on Thursday evening, Dr Mandl referred to the poultry industry, which should be encouraged in this district. We are pleased to know that his suggestion that Mr Hyde, the poultry expert, should visit and deliver a lecture at Foxton, will be given effect to. This district is eminently suitable for poultry raising, and if residents would only realise the profits which would accrue to them by converting their waste patches of ground into poultry runs, they would lose no time in taking up poultry as a hobby. A visit from the Government expert would arouse enthusiasm on this question. Mr Perreau informed the meeting that a poultry association was in existence here. If such is the case, then we have neither seen nor heard any results from its existence. Perhaps Mr Hyde’s visit will bring it newness of life. We are pleased the subject has been brought under public notice, and hope good may result ‘from it.
