MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

Quarterly Returns. The following are returns of the local Magistrate’s Court for the quarter ending June 30th : —The court sittings totalled 18, the Magistrate presided over three and the Justices 15. Seventy-fire civil cases were heard j aggregate amount sued for £IOSB 18s lid ; amount recovered £495 Is 4d j 70 plaints entered, fifteen distress warrants issued and five judgment summonses. One hundred and fifteen summonses were served within two miles, and forty-one over that distance. Amount of civil fees paid in stamps, £l7 15s. In the criminal returns 37 males and one female were arrested, six were dismissed, 30 summarily convicted, and two otherwise dealt with. Fees paid in stamps, £9 Bs. Eleven applications were received for old age pensions, 10 were granted, and one is pending. _
