A young man named Shine was shooting in the Piako swamp, when his mate’s gun went off. Shine received the charge in his thigh. He was attended by Dr Kennedy, and ordered to the Hamilton Hospital. Auckland, July i.
A carpenter named Bertram or John Ferguson, aged about 50, and supposed to have come from the Thames, committed suicide at West Tamakiby taking rat poison. Ferguson suffered from a bad leg, .and left a letter indicating his intention to take his own life.
David Adams, a flaxmill hand, was playing with a dog at Mercer when tnc rifle he was holding was discharged. The bullet, entering his armpit, caused injuries which ended fatally when he was being conveyed by train to the Auckland Hospital. Blenheim, July i.
The body of William Preston, a young man who has been missing since May 9th, was found yesterday by two young men who were out shooting on the lagoons at Vernon. The body was found near the place where the unfortunate man’s hat was recovered some four weeks ago.
