MOUTOA SETTLERS, ATTENTION!
We ' hope that every settler in Moutoa will find it convenient to attend the meeting to be held in the Mayor’s office, Council Chambers, on Thursday, convened by G. B. Gower, Esq., for the purpose of discussing ways and means of dealing with the overflow waters of the Manawatu in the district above mentioned. Unity is strength, and unless settlers recognise this, the same apathy will continue. Individual effort is of little avail. The question of drainage must be faced by settlers sooner or later, and we are of opinion, in the face of coming events, that the time is now opportune. But settlers are very diffi-
cult cattle to deal with. It takes much effort to rouse them to action. It is computed that a third of the rich pasture land in the Moutoa is rendered useless by reason of the flood waters. Just think of it, one-third ! We hope that on Thursday night every property owner will be represented, and the beginning of a comprehensive scheme to deal with the overflow will be evolved.
