ARTESIAN WATER.

At last night’s Council meeting, Cr Hennessy proposed and Cr Frankland seconded, That this Council consider the advisability of sinking a trial artesian well in Victoria Park, and the Reserve Committee go into the matter and report on same. Cr Hennessy said the Reserves funds were in credit and he thought the trial might be made.

Cr Frankland said the funds from the reserves were now interchangeable. Cr Baker warmlj’- opposed the spending of money on a trial bore. An artesian water supply was out of the question. It would cost thousands of pounds, and the Council might as well go in for the mountain scheme.

The motion on being put was carried, Cr Baker only dissenting.
