.At the welcome social tendered to the Rev. Mr Aitkeil in the Hall oil Thursday evening last, members of all denominations were present and also assisted with the programme. This, we think, is as it should be. While each church holds - fast to its particular faith,, and members of the several bodies agree to differ on points of, doctrine, etc., in social matters —especially in the country districts, —the people should unite and fraternise.' In this fair young land we .. don’t. want any of the '‘bigotry and stand-offishness and pious patronage that still exists in the old country. We desire to see .the Roman-Catholic, the Anglican, *khe Methodist, the Presbyterian and others 1 , meeting together •in social intercourse free from restraint. None of your outstretched palms and look of- holy : horror ;-when asked to attend a Roman “CatholibOf‘Methodist social function: If", ' and ; live in harmony until the time shall come when all} ;.Christian ■-septs r shall unite as one undivided'body.
