LANCASHIRE LASS.
The Levin Amateur Dramatic Company.
There was a very fair attendance in the Public Hall last night (considering the broken weather and the other attractions the previous three nights) to witness the above performance by the company whose reputation in the past still showed that it is worthy of the confidence of the Foxton public. The play itself is somewhat lengthy, it is full of pathos, slightly combined with comic situations, and the fact of nearly the whole of the audience remaining to the finish could not prove a better testimonial as. to their appreciation of the various actors. ■ Mrs Goodall, as Ruth Kirby, the brave-hearted lass, gave an excellent portrayal, whilst Miss Bishop, (Kate Garston') as a disappointed lover, revengful but penitent at the last was equally successful. Mr Phillips Ned Clayton) played his part well.. Fitzherbtert (Robert Redburn) .was a capable villain and Mr Barfatt who, owing to illness of one of the actors, duplicated liis parts, w T as quite- at home. Mr Goodall was quite successful in his part of Johnston (as he is in all his characters), and his acting .was warmly appreciated by the audience. The other characters were well supported, and those who missed the play should have occasion to regret it. The orchestra is to be complimented on its efforts.
