RISE IN WHEAT AND FLOUR.
Dunedin, May 16. The Otago Daily Times states that the directors of the N.Z. Flourmillers’ Association, at their ordinary monthly meeting held in Christchurch, decided to advance the price of flour by another xos per ton, making a total rise of £1 per ton within a week. The reason for this rise .is obviously the advance in the price of flour in the Commonwealth, thus making importations from that source prohibitive. It has been a matter of common knowledge that the possibility of the importation of Australian flour has been a factor militating against any advance in the New Zealand commodity, despite the gradual hardening of the wheat market. Now, however, that wheat is hardening all over the world, an advance has been established in Australia, afid should the excitement continue, the outlook is for higher prices for flour and bread throughout the winter.
