A NEW BUSINESS.
With this issue Messrs W. J. Gardener, late of Messrs Nash and Co., and F. D, Whibley, late of P. Hennessy and Co., announce that they will commence business in Foxton as grocers and general pro- ( viders in temporary premisesknown as Manchester House, on Saturday next, May 18th. Both Messrs Gardener and Whibley are well-known young men and highly respected throughout the town and district, Mr Gardener has had an Australian and New Zealand practical experience in the grocery business, and bears very high credentials from employers. Mr Whibley’s long connection with the firm of P. Hennesy and Co., needs no comment from us. Whether the venture will be successful in the face of strong opposition remains to be proven. However, they have determined to strike out “on* their own”—as others have done before them—and they beleive in the old adage that he who would deserve support must meritit. They are laying themselves g out to reach this objective andJ they ask for a share of public! support.
