CRICKET.

Sanson v Foxton. The last match of the season was played in Victoria Park on Saturday which resulted in a win for the local reps, with a fair margin to spare. Foxton can now boast of being able to beat Sanson at some game, and local cricketers should be pleased with themselves on this score. The weather was delightful for the game, which was enjoyed by quite a large crowd. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies, whose kindness was recognised by the players With three hearty cheers. The local team batted first, and after about an hour and halt’s play the innings closed for 58 runs, of which Nye (Foxton's skipper) made 15, while Shad bolt and Gordon each supplied 9. Sanson then followed, but did not make a very long stay with only 30 runs total all out. The local bowling was too good, both Gordon and Southern, being out for the day. Walters was the only man of Sanson to trouble the bowlers, he being not out with 16 to his credit. Drew (the skipper) was the only other man to to make a score, his being 8. Afternoon tea was then partaken of, and the game was continued by Sanson following on and at the call of time had lost eight wickets for 33 runs, Walters contributing 13 and Wright 9to the score. Foxton were thus left winners by 28 runs on the first innings. Following are the scores : Foxton—lst innings. Cook, b Wright ... ... 2 Shadbolt, c and b Wright ... 9 Woods, cT.
