PHYSICAL CULTURE.
Classes Opened Yesterday.
Notwithstanding the many counter attractions last night, Mr R. O. Jarrett formed most successful classes for ladies and gentlemen, in the Masonic Hall. Both sexes took a keen interest in the work. A large number of names of in tend-
ing pupils were handed in with apologies for non attendance through various causes, viz., Band Bazaar, wrestling contest and Masonic meeting at Rongotea. When the full number of pupils enrolled attend the hall accommodation wilt be taxed to its utmost. Mr Jarrett has fitted the interior of the hall with all physical culture appliances, developers (four kinds) Sandow’s, Terrys, Whitelevs etc., chest expanders dumbells etc., mats for each pupil, and all the necessary appliances. Class hours will be from 7.15 to 8.15 p.m, for ladies, 8.15 to 10 p.m. for men and youths on every Wednesday, except Ist May, and for that week alone the classes will be held on Thursday night at the usual hours, owing to Mr Jarrett assisting at the flower show to be held at Palmerston N., on that date. Mr Jarrett assures us that he is very pleased indeed with the hearty support he has received under most adverse circumstances. We cannot, however, urge parents too earnestly, to do their utmost to give their boys and girls the benefit of the training to be received at these classes.
