POLICE COURT QUARTERLY RETURNS.

The following are the local Police Court returns for the quarter ending March 31st: Number of sittings presided over by the Stipendiary Magistrate, three ; bv Justices of the Peace, seventeen. Aggregate amount sued for os 7d, of which 3s 2d was recovered. Number of plaints entered, 68; distress warrants, seven ; judgment summonses, six; orders for judgments, two; warrants of committal, two. Summonses served within two miles 100, over two miles, 26 ; distress warrants, 10. Amounts paid in civil fees, os 6d.

Two old age pensions were granted.

Criminal cases : Twelve persons were arrested; one dismissed, 11 summarily convicted. Amount paid in fees and fines, ns.
