THE ANNIVERSARY OF A DEATH DAY.

To the Editor. Sir, —About 1900 years ago the Romans, at the instigation of the clerics of a conquered race living in Palestine, put to death by the common form of execution one of the most perfect examples of a . Socialist. He taught the brotherhood of man ; that the poor had rightscondemned divorce; by example and precept taught humility, and the sacredness - of child life. He drew a picture of the last judgment, depicting the population of the universe gathered together and separated into two sections, each unit being judged for neglecting to give food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty, aid to the stranger, clothing to the naked, and forgetting the sick and those in prison. He denied that He was good, stating that there was one good only, that is, the Creator. He affirmed that there was only one Deity only, at a time when our forefathers in Britain worshipped a different god every day in the week, as the names of our week days prove, viz., moon worship on Monday, etc. We, as a people, have adopted the teaching and Jewish faith of Christ, and I trust, Sir, that Good Friday, being the anniversary of His death day, will be kept as a holy day.—l am, etc., A Colonial.
