FRISCO MAIL SERVICE.

New York, March 12

The New York Sun states that the directors of the Oceanic Steamship Company are notifying the authorities at Washington of the projected withdrawal of their steamers from the Australian service.

The general manager of the Spreckels Company in Sydney, when interviewed last week in reference to a report that the A. and A. Tine steamers were to be withdrawn, stated that there was absolutely no foundation for the report. All that was known in Sydney was that the Sierra and Ventura were to be laid up. They were returning to San Francisco, where they would be thoroughly overhauled. This meant a temporary break in the service.
