Auckland, March 12
An old woman named Margaret O’Sullivan was found dead in her apartments at Parnell this afternoon. As no medical certificate is forthcoming as to the cause of death, an inquest will beheld. Wanganui, March 12.
At the Supreme Court to-day Andrew Turnbull was sentenced to three years for an indecent assault on an eight-year-old child. A fifteen-year-old boy named Julius Green was found guilty of attempting to carnally know a girl aged twelve years. The case closed just before midnight. Invercargill, March 12. A peculiar case of mistaken identity has been creating considerable interest here lately. C. Otway was convicted recently of riding a bicycle on a footpath. Otway, supported to a certain extent by two letters, swore that the offender was his brother, but on a policeman’s evidence, Mr McCarthy, S.M., convicted accused. A re-hearing was granted, and the Magistrate’s decision reversed.
