The Manawatu Herald. THURSDAY, MARCH 7, 1907. FIRE BRIGADE.

The clanging of the firebell on Tuesday reminded us that no action has yet been taken to form a fire brigade in Foxton. There are plenty of young fellows—some with previous experience in fire brigade matters —who have expressed their willingness to join a brigade if one is formed. With assistance from the Council, general public and Underwriters’ Association, a brigade could easily be maintained. Water could be pumped by means of a manual from wells sunk in the various streets by the Council, which would make it possible for the firemen to successfully combat the fiery elements. We suggest that some public spirited individual call a public meeting to discuss the question and enrol members.
