BRITISH POLITICS.

Church of England Dlsestab" llshment. London, February 28. In the House of Commons Mr R. L. Everett, Liberal member for the South-eastern division of Suffolk, moved a resolution in favour of the disendowment of the Church in England and Wales. The motion was carried by 198 votes to 90. The debate was carried without any notable feature except a strenuous protest entered by Mr Lyttelton against the resolution. He declared that it was proposed to pillage-the church. Mr Birrell, Chief Secretary for Ireland and ex-Minister for Education, while personally supporting the resolution, announced that the Government declined responsibility for a motion of this kind, their hands being already full enough.
