THE THAW TRIAL.
Sensational Evidence. A Girl in a Pie. New York, Fob. 10. When the trial of Harry Thaw for the murder of Stanford White was re-; sinned, Mr Jerome, for the prosecution, cross-examined Mrs Thaw with a view to assailing her credibility. Thaw deposed that "White told her that he had put a beautiful girl aged 15 years, covered with gauze, with a lot of birds in a pie. When the girl jumped out, the birds flew around. This happened, he said, at a bachelor dinner, and created the best fun he had even seen. The girl subsequently married, and when her husband heard the story he cast her off. She was dying of poverty. Witness stated that- White’s practices with girls were beyond description. Mrs Thaw admitted that when she was in Paris, after Thaw had proposed to her, she cabled White for advice, when she found that she had been made co-respondent in the Lederer' divorce suit. »
