CLEAN YOUR TANKS OUT.
There has been a mild form of dysentery prevalent among the people in this district lately. A resident called upon us yesterday and expressed the opinion that the cause of the trouble was due to the fact that people neglected to clean out the house tanks from whence the supply of water for domestic purposes is drawn. He said he knew of several tanks in the town which had not been cleaned out for years and on the bottoms of which was a coating of filth, consisting of birds’ droppings, decaying vegetable matter, insects, etc., etc. We are not competent to say whether his hypothesis is correct, bpt we certainly advise all householders • who are dependent upcn the tanks for their domestic, water supply, to qlean out the receptacles at least three times a year, and When the cleaning is finished to sprinkle a little lime on the bottom of the tank. They will find the water greatly improved and any danger of contamination removed.
