WHISKY SMUGGLING.
London, February 17
It has been discovered that whisky smuggling has been carried on by an unknown Irish firm on an enormous scale. It was conveyed by underground pipes from the distillery to a duty-paid warehouse, and the payment of excise was thus evaded.
The Revenue Department imposed a penalty of ,£65,000 on the firm.
An agitation is afo'ot to secure its prosecution.
