BOROUGH STREET LAMPS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I wish to call the attention of the Borough Council, with your permission, to the disgraceful manner in which the street lamps are supposed to be attended to. The work is usually done by two little boys, and the lamps are not properly managed. The result is a feeble glimmer, which is useless and a waste of the ratepayers’ money. I think the Council should dispense with the services of the present lamplighters and do without the lamps altogether if they cannot attend to our street lighting in a more thorough manner. Thanking you in anticipation, —I am etc.,

Ratepayer. [This matter was dealt with at last Qpjjpcil meeting, and the lamplighter was instructed to carry out' his ’ duties in a more thorough manner. — Ed. M.H.]
