Tremewan shewing fine form with the bat, playing anything on the wiciket carefully, and punishing any of the loose stuff. His brother also played a fine innings for 14. W. Tremewan was caught and bowled by Cunningham, and R. Tremewan was caught otf Rough. Clark also scored a very useful dozen. When six of the Shannon wickets had the fine total of 89, the Shannon skipper wisely declared his innings closed at 5.50, trusting to his bowlers to dispose of the Foxton team within the 40 minutes left for play, but though Shannon managed to dispose of seven of the Foxton men for the small total of 22, they failed to win. The game from all points was a very successful and pleasant one. The visitors were entertained by the local team at dinner, and the following ladies kindly dispensed afternoon tea: Mesdames Woods, Hamer and Styles, and Misses Hamer and Speirs. The Foxton team is now looking forwaad to a return match, and an endeavour is to be made to send a team to Shannon at an early date.
