CHURCH PARADE.
The Loyal Poxton Lodge, ManChester Unity of Oddfellows, attended Evensong at All Saints on Sunday evening. The Town Band led the procession, which was formed up in the State School ground. The officers members of the order present numbered 23, while the band was 16, strong. The brethren wore their new regalia for the first time outside the lodge-room; and very handsome it looked. At the Church it was found necessary to bring in extra seats, Mr George Gray kindly supplying' chairs from his dining room. The service was conducted by the Eev. H. P. Wilson, B. A., who preached from the second lesson —Acts xxv.— and dwelt upon the twofold reason of St. Paul’s strength in his criminal trial and imprisonment, viz. the fact that he had trained himself for the conflict and also that he believed Jesus Christ to be at his side. The season of Lent, he said, called Christians to renew the daily discipline of life which St. Paul found necessary for his safety; and the great truth of the living presence of Christ was the one source of protection, encouragement and power in the daily battle of our ■ lives. The service was a very hearty and enjoyable one. The assistance of the new organ—as on the previous Sunday—was delightfully evident, the organist (Miss J.enks) handling the great instrument very capably. The offertory which was for the fund assisting ' the poor bush parishes—amounted to about fifty shillings.
