THE BEACH ROAD.
TO THE EDtTOJi. Sir, —I wish to call the attentioi of the Mauawatu County Counci to the bad state of the road leadin': to the beach. The sand at om point has drifted across the road, and formed a bad sand drift, there being a swamp on the opposite side of the road. The road at this I point is very narrow. To make the road passable at this point the ! sand could be thrown into the swamp. If this is done it may prevent a serious accident. A man with a long-handled shovel could shift the sand in about two days. This would make the road passable. As there is considerable traffic from Foxton to the beach and Sanatorium it would be a great boon to the travelling public if this were done before the winter sets in, as there are from live to six hundred people using this road during the year. I consider it is the Borough Council’s duty to draw the County’s attention from time to time to-this matter, as it is mostly the Foxton and Palmerston people who use this load. If you will please insert these lines in the columns of your valuable newspaper, I shall be much obliged.— Yours etc.,
Foxton. [We have called attention to the bad state of the road on several occasions, and were informed that £2OO was to be spent in putting it in order. Evidently this has not been done. We would commend the matter to the careful consideration of Cr Barber.—Fi). M.H.]
