ALLEGED KIDNAPPING.
Melbourne Lady’s Remarkable Statement. London, 27th Jau. Mrs Knipe, a Melbourne lady, informs tUe Daily Mail that she brought her daughter to England in .November and recently took her to a convent school at Worthing, on the Sussex coast, escorting her to and fro daily. Suddenly the child was snatched up and carried off in a cab. Her whereabouts is unknown, but her husband had lately been seen with the girl in London. Melbourne, This Day. Knipe and his wife, with their daughter, aged 8, went to England eighteen months ago. A dispute arose over financial matters, and a separation took place. The father seized the child. A writ of habeas corpus was secured, but Knipe removed the child to Melbourne in defiance of the court. Last September the wife secured the child and took her back to England. The girl is heiress to a considerable sum on the death of her mother. " '
