BOROUGH FINANCES.
Since the last monthly meeting of the Council, the sum of £75 Is 4d has been paid into the District Fund Account, and the bank balance yesterday was £425 17s 4d at credit.
The balances of the various separate accounts are as follows : General Account. Dr £79 17s 7d Library Account, Dr £6 16s 3d Reserves Account, Cr £l9O 14s 7d Cemetery Account, Cr £lO 3s lOd Interest Account, Cr £ll3 16s 8d There are two more monthlv payments to be made before the close of the financial year, which should not exceed £7O, in all, and the treasurer estimates that the revenue of the Council should be between £SO and £6O during the same period, so that the general account in all probability will not be overdrawn more than £9O which is £75 less than the estimate [at the begining of the year. This is mainly due to some of the receipts exceeding expectations, notably that of the building permits, which nearly doubled the estimate, and also to the fact that the expenditure on the roads has been kept down to the very lowest possible amount, and when the Council consider the extra strain upon our finances this year, on account of the extras on the new buildings, in addition to the concrete bridge across the Main Street, the above result must be looked upon as highly satisfactory.
