[to the editor]
Sir. —I noticed a paragraph relating to billiard saloons in Saturday’s issue, and I believe in assisting the police in performing their duty in every way, but I am not in accord with the condition that habitues that are shunted off licensed premises resort to the billiard saloons applies to Foxton. Moreover, if such was the case, it does not follow that they become boisterous or in any way an annoyance to the public. I have conducted a saloon during the last three years and I don’t think there has been cause for complaint in mine or any other saloon in Foxton, also I believe that in an important town like Palmerston North the saloons are licensed till n p.ra. Thanking you for valuable space, —I am, etc., F. Bale, Foxton.
