The “ Sandbagging ” Case.
Christchurch, Dec. 26
In connection with the recent case in which Mr Hooker, representative of the Taranaki court at the Exhibition, alleged that he had been attacked and robbed by two men, the police, after making inquiries, flatly deny that an assault took place. Mr Hooker, on being seen, declined to make any further statement. He will neither retract his story nor confirm it. It is understood that what assault did take place was the result of a personal quarrel.
