FOXTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Foxton School Committee was held in the Borough Chambers on Thursday. Present —A. D. Clemett (chatr), Messrs Barnard; Frankland, Rev. Wilson, Gray and the Secretary.
It was proposed by A. D. Clemett and seconded by C. Barnard that the Headmaster be asked to make all necessary arrangements for the School sports.— Carried.
On the motion pf the Secretary seconded by F. \IL Frankland, it was resolved to ask the Headmaster to forward the names of scholars deserving of prizes under the headings of proficiency, conduct, and diligence, and that the committee canvass for subscriptions to purchase prizes necessary.— Carried.
The Secretary stated that he had written to the Board re putting the Schoolhouse in order, and had received word that Mr James, the Board’s Architect,, would visit Foxton to inquire into the suggested improvements. Correspondence was received from an insurance company stating that the committee had no insurable interest in the old School, and it was resolved to ascertain whether the Board would Insure the building if the committee paid the premium from moneys received from same.—Carried.
In regard to Mr Stevens’ prizes, papers were received from one boy and eight girl competitors. The Secretary mentioned that he had sent in an application for the refund of a grant of j£io, for renewing fence, but „had received no reply.— He was instructed to again write.
Several accounts were passed for payment Messrs A. D. Clemett, G. Coley, F. W. Frankland and Rev. Wilson were elected a subcommittee to purchase suitable school prizes.
