j A committee meeting of the local tennis club was held in the Herald office yesterday afternoon to consider the resignation of the Secretary. There was a full attendance and. Mr Cleraett presided. The Secretary explained that he intended to resign as a protest against the conduct of one or two members in questioning the right of the Management Committee to control all games on the court. He stated that the novices should be given an opportunity of playing with more skilled members on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. As a member of the match committee he desired fair play. It was explained that those who had transgressed were not acquainted with the rules. Mr Morgan consented to pressure of the committee to hold over his resignation. The following resolution was carried with one dissentient: “That the action of the member of the match conmittee in controlling and arranging games on Wednesday 12th Dec. be upheld.” The meeting then rose.
