SALTS AT PLAY.
A feeling or restlessness seems to have prevailed amongst the employees of the respective vessels which were bar-bound in this port for some time. Whether the long period in port had occasioned them the loss of use of their sea-legs and causing a reaction to set in, or whether the mates had an old score to settle with the engineers, we are not in a position to say, but matters were brought to a climax by the mates challenging the engineers to a series of athletic contests, which they played on the local Park last Saturday in characteristic sailor fashion.
