DAIRY PRODUCE SHIPMENTS
Cheese Output more than
doubled.
The Athenic, which left Wellington for London on Thursday took a great shipment of dairy produce, 47,245 boxes of butter and 7911 cases of cheese. The shipment was made up as follows;—Auckland, 13,172 boxes of butter and 311 cases of cheese ; New Plymouth, 13,406 and 916 ; Patea, 6032 and 2255 ; Wellington, 10,199 and 2305 ; Lyttelton, 2722 and 193 ; Dunedin, 1252 and 337 ; Bluff, 1594 cases of cheese. The total amount exported to date is 191,830 boxes of butter and 22,622 cases of cheese. The shipments for the corresponding period of last year, including that of the Gothic, which left on December 9th, amounted to 160,744 boxes of butter and 10,974 cases of cheese, so that the increase represents the splendid total of 31,086 boxes of butter and 11,648 cases of cheese, a combined value of ,£125,000.
It will be seen that while butter shipments have shown a good increase those of cheese have more than doubled.
