THE PRICE OF WOOL
Wool is up to n#d per lb in Wellington, which means over 13d in London. A few years ago it was down to and 3d. There appears as yet, says a contemporary, to be no reason to expect any serious drop from the high level of prices in the near future. The gain to this colony during the last three or four years has been enormous, and has been more' appreciated and probably more beneficial through the experience of the previous years of low prices, because the pinch of hard times had induced the most economical and careful working, and more attention to every method of securing the greatest possible return per sheep by improving the wool and guarding against waste. Many a sheep farmer who felt himself at the end of his tether a few years ago is prosperous and debt free to-day through the rise in wool, and the continuance of high prices.
