CALLIOPE DOCK ACCIDENT.
Auckland, Nov. 27
Another of the victims of the Calliope dock accident, James May all, expired at the hospital this afternoon. He had suffered internal injuries and injuries to the head.
An inquest on the bodies of R. Clark and J. May was opened today before Mr Kettle S.M. and a jury. The Magistrate stated that the inquiry would probably be lengthy, as an exhaustive investigation was necessary to ascertain the cause of the accident. The jury proceeded to the dock to view the scene of the accident.
After the dock was inspected the inquest was adjourned for a week. Ati examination showed that the dock was not injured in any way, and the accident was apparently due entirely to the blocks on which the Mamari rested giving way. It is suggested that the blocks were disturbed when the Kaikoura was being undocked, just previous to the Mamari en tering.
