EDUCATING THE HORSE.
Referring to Professor Lichtwark’s exhibition at Levin, the Manawatu Farmer says;— “ The animal operated upon was a 3-yr-old colt, the property of Mr J. 11. McDonald, and had never been handled. Within an hour from the time of starting his work the Professor had tiic colt following him round the enclosure as docile as possible, as was proven by the fact that the ahimal made not the slightest objection to having its fore and hind feet lifted, or to be ridden backward. At the conclusion of the exhibition a class was formed for the purpose of receiving a complete insight into the Professor’s methods of educating horses to saddle or harness. We have no hesitation in saying that the Professor’s method is founded on a thorough knowledge of the nature of the horse, and that commontense and kindness combine to make his method a perfect one for gaining control of man’s best friend—the horse. It is also a system which can be easily learned and as successfully applied by others as by the Professor himself.”
