STEELE - PAYNE BELLRINGERS.
Foxton residents may look forward to a great musical treat next Tuesday at the Public Hall when the favourite Steele-Payne Bellringers will make their reappearance in one of their enjoyable and unique musical entertainments. The great charm of their entertainment is its versatility, each item as it succeeds its predecessor being of a different calibre and yet of a high standard. The p'-oj‘aume includes bellringing with harmonised vocal accompaniments, instrumental selections on mandolines, violins, banjos and flute. The. Russian sleigh bells are skilfully handled by Miss Lizzie Payne. A special feature consists of part songs, in which vocal imitations are given of the banjos and bagpipes, action songs with elaborate costumes and graceful actions are performed. Interspersed with this is the comic element, Mr Steele will sing his latest successes “ Trifling Occurrences ” snd “ How Dare You ” and Mr T. Elston-Whidburn will give a humourous rendering of “A Country Competition ” which is said to be excruciatingly ludicrous, Miss Tansly will contribute several numbers, Mr J. Williams’s deep bass voice will be heard to great advantage and Miss Alice Appleby, who will make her first appearance here will sing “The Singer was Irish’’ with invisible chorus besides taking part in the concerted numbers. With all the artists, bellringers as well as vocalists and instrumentalists, a programme of much versatility is promised.
