A comparison of the cost of living in the different boroughs of the colony is usually an important part of : the volume of statistics annually published, by the Government, but as the particulars are necsesardy stale by the time they are published, they are not much' use for comparison. The Labour Department, however, have compiled a list showing the cost of food ifi some of the boroughs of the Colony, and following in the lines of the Fielding Star we have taken the trouble to compare them with

the prices at Foxton, with the following result

It will be seen by the above that the cost of living in Foxton is lower on the average than in other boroughs and we fully believe that if these inquiries were pursued in regard to other business that a similar result would be obtained. Yet some people are deluded into sending their money outside tjie town for the purchases, that could be made to better advantage locally.
