The following rates of pay are | demanded by the Manawatu Flax- j mills Employees Union: .Stripper keepers, £\ 10s per week; strip-per-keepers when feeding, £\ 15 s per week; stripper-keepers, when engine - driving, _£s ; stripperkeeoers when feeding and managing* 5s per week. Washer, finding his own boots and apron, 10s per day ; Feeders, lis per day ; Bench Loaders, per day; Sorters, 8s 6d per day ; Catchers, 9s per day ; Shakers, 8s per day ; Paddockers, 8s per day, Head Paddocker, £2 14s per week; Rouseabouts, £1 5s per week. Draymen: Driver of 1 horse, £2 7s per week ; Driver of 2 horses, £2 10s per week; Driver of 3 horses, £2 15s per week; Driver of more than 3 horses, £3 per week. Cooks’ assistants to be paid is per man per week. All hands employed daily in the swamp to be paid 10s per pay. All manual labour not provided in the foregoing schedule 8s per day. The hours of labour not to exceed fortysix in each week, to be worked as follows:—Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 7.45 a.m- to 12 noon, 1 p.ra. to 5 p.m. ; Saturdays, 7.45 a-ni- to 12,30 p.m.
