WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.
* ■ [ijy TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL TO HERALD] Wanganui, This Day. The ordinary meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was held last night. Present— Messrs Pirani, (Chairman) Carson, Dixon, Smith, Purnell, Guthrie, Bennett and Fraser. Appointments: Motorimu, Miss Chadwick ; College-street, first assistant, H. R. Meremere; Misses Alcorn and Wanklyn, Foxton; Ohingaite. Miss Hauron. Resignations were accepted from Messrs’ Gordon, Mosstown ; Rogers, Awahui ; Anderson, Waituna West; Neilson, Eongacre Valley, and Jenks, Foxton. It was resolved to give three mouths notice to all teachers of Wanganui Schools in order to remedy same and a special meeting of the Board will be held on the seventh of November to deal I with this matter. Sanson Committee asked for a new residence and it was resolved to grant house allowance from the beginning of the year. Stoney Creek. Mr Bennet moved and Mr Fraser seconded that a grant of ,£lO be made towards the purchase of a site. — The motion was lost. The Education Board sitting as the Board of Governors of the girls college, the Chairman reported that several cases of scarletina had. occurred at the College, and that the building had been ■ quarantined. It was decided to rent a building to hold classes for day pupils. The resignation of the musical directress (Miss Richmond) was accepted and it was resolved to rearrange the musical staff and invite applications for musical directress and assistant teacher. The question of including cooking, housewifery and dressmaking in the subjects to be taught at the College was held over till next month.
