OBITUARY.
Mrs E. P. Osborne—aged 73 years. On Sunday morning, the 14th inst, another old settler in the person of Mrs E. P. Osborne, wife of Mr E. P. Osborne,* passed'away at her daughter’s residence, Avenue Road, Foxton, at 1 the ripe age of 70 years and 8 months. The de■*j ceased was born at St. Aubins, Jersey, and was the daughter of Thomas and Susan Syms.' Fiftyseven years ago she married her husband who still survives her. Deceased and her husband arrived, in the colony 24 years ago and settled in Foxton, where they have since resided. - The'old lady en- ’ joyed good health up to about'two years ago, since when she has been ailing. She was an affectionate aiid devoted wife and mother and leaves a grown up family of three sons* Mr Edward A. (Napier), Edmund (Palmerston), Archie (Foxton), and two daughters (Mrs Bullard (Foxton), Mrs W. Nye (Wellington) and nearly 40 great and grand-children to mourn their loss. As’ an evidence of the deceased'oldlady’s wonderful memory just prior to her death she recited a piece of poetry containing 13 verses which she learnt in her island home when only nine years of age. In common with others we extend to deceased’s life-long companion and bereaved family our sincere sympathy. The funeral will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) leaving the residence of Mr Bullard for the Foxton cemetery at 2.30 p.m.
