S. M. COURT.
(Before A. D. Thomson, S.M.) Monday. At the local S.M. Court yesterday Hop Leo (Mr Moot cl sued G. ■ Relay (Mr lieadc) for £0 goods supplied counter claim Reay v Hop Lee for labour etc. From lengthy evidence it appeared that Reay consented to plougti and harrow cortam land tor Hop Lee for the sum of £z. The ground was ploughed and Reay failed to harrow it and another person had to be called in to complete the work. —Judgment was given for plaintiff on the first claim for j£t ijs and costs Os, amt the counter claim was disallowed. H. Spellman (Beade) v. Chung Wah (Moore), claim .£5 13s ad. —Adjourned to November 12th. Tuesday. (Before Messrs Dr Bennet and Fraser J.’s P. William Kinloy was charged with being drunk and refusing to leave the Fa’mily Hotel. Accused said he did not remember anything of what occurred. Andrew Lamg, licensee of the Family Hotel, said he could only get accused to leave after much persuasion. The Bench warned accused of the risk he ran in refusing to leave licensed premises when requested to ' , dc so and dismissed the charge. ■ George Clark was similarly charged. ’He pleaded guilty to the first charge and was discharged but pleaded not guilty to the second charge, , Constable Whitehouse called Andrew Laing who stated accused refused to leave his premises oh request and defied him. Accused was the worse ■ for liquor and witness refused to serve him remarking that he had better go back to where he got the liquor from. Accused admitted that he was not served at Mr Laing’s Hotel. Fined 10s or 48 hours.
