A CHINAMAN’S REVENGE.
Shoots a European.
Dunedin, October 3. A man named Peter McEwen, employed on the electric trams, was recived into the hospital tonight suffering from a bullet wound in the thigh. At present his condition is believed not to be serious. A Chinese fish-hawker named Ifin Hoon has been arrested on a charge of shooting at McEwen. It appears that Ein has been molested a good deal by larrikins, and it is believed he thought McEwen was one of them. As McEwen was walking home by way of Walker street the Chinaman fired two shots at him from a sixchambered revolver, one of the bulletts striking him. When the Chinaman was arrested he had a revolver on him, two chambers being empty.
