The Manawatu Herald. THURSDAY, SEPT 27, 1906. NOTES AND COMMENTS.
,It is regrettable to think that hundreds of pounds are sent away monthly from Foxton and district by residents to outside firms, when the money could be spent to better advantage if purchases were made locally. Our local tradesmen carry extensive Stocks and the prices for the same compare more than favorably with those of outside firms. We would urge patriotism on the part of townspeople and thus allow the money now sent elsewhere to be circulated locally. The pedlar with his “ brummagum ” reaps a rich harvest in this district. The a*y thorities should see to it that these itinerant individuals take out the necessary licence when they visit these parts. Of course people have a right to spend their money where they choose, but we should all benefit were a little more patriotism shown.
