LANTERN EXHIBITION.
At All Saints schoolroom last night, Mr N. A. Friberg (who has just resigned the position of Chief Assistant at the_ College-street school, and is leaving Palmerston North) entertained a numerous company—chiefly of Sunday school children —with an exhibition of beautiful pictures through the magic lantern. Commencing'with a few local subjects from photographs of his own taking, Mr Friberg passed to a fine series of por-: traits and architectural subjects by great Italian and Dutch masters of the golden age in art. To this series succeeded a very interesting and detailed “ Tour of the River Rhine.” Each picture was described to the audience and a connected lecture made. Several sets of amusing subjects were introduced between the series mentioned and at the close, and these added greatly to the children’s appreciation. The lecturer was rewarded with close attention throughout, and at the close with a hearty round of applause.
