Flax-growing experiments cn the Piako (Thames) lands are proving entirely satisfactory. The Government paid the cost of planting several hundred flax plants two years ago, Bonrke and Scotcher, of Napier, undertaking the work of supervisi >n. The flax has come on splendidly, and it is hoped additio a! areas will be similarly treated. There are thousands of acres of land available.'
