Methodist Social.

A most successful social was held in the Methodist schoolroom on Thursday evening, organised by the gentlemen of the congregation. There was a good attendance, and the Rev. Mr Southern occupied the chair. The following programme was submitted and thoroughly appreciated : —Two selections by an orchestra of nine performers ; two leaf solos by Mr Christensen, of Himatangi, were a decided novelty and took on immensely ; ’cello solo, Mr R. Hickson ; flute solo, Mr Moorman ; euphonium solo, Mr Baskiville ; instrumental trio by Baud members; vocal duet, Messrs Sherratt and Betty ; recitations by Messrs Curt/ and Hornhlow ; the accompaniments were played by Mr Herthold. Refreshments were handed round by the gentlemen, and the proceedings were brought to a close by votes of thanks and the National Anthem.
